Why does everyone say love is so wonderful
When all it is is painful,
Filling your heart with torment,
Leaving you with a heart full of regret?

Why do people say love is so wonderful
When all it does is cause disasters,
Ripping hearts apart,
Creating damage beyond repair?

Why does everyone say we need love to live
When often, it is what sends us to our death,
Letting people slowly die inside,
Killing ever so painfully?

Why do people say love is kind
When love can hurt the most,
Creating some of the biggest tragedies,
Continually letting people down?

Why does everyone say love is loyal
When love so often betrays,
Causing anguish so deep,
Tearing a heart apart?

Why do people say love is trustworthy
When love lets so many down,
Leaving people numb inside,
Devising more problems than peace?

Why does everyone say love is pure
When love can be so corrupt,
When it allows you to damage the heart and soul
Of the one you supposedly love?

Why does everyone say such gracious things about love,
When love is so cruel?
