The Day of Fear

by myshiningstar14   Jan 18, 2006

Knives and stitches,
casts and pain.
Broken bones,
and love so vain.
This is the day of
fear.

As you get ready,
your heart gets heavy.
Like a levy, your mouth
drops down into your
chest, and your fears
arise.

Oxygen mask,
and IV tube.
Lots of
questions,
and mindless
games.

Deep in your eyes, do
the tears abide. Inside,
you're crying; and lying
to yourself.

Numbing skin,
blood so red;
and a soul
unread.

You're not having
surgery, and all is well.
You're not hurt, and
you are swell. This is
the day of fear.

Good poem but the stanzas rhythms didnt match up. the rhyme scheme was off too. it was very forth coming and wonderfully thoughtful though. definatley a work of a poet. good job.

If i do say so myself i lvoe the depth..the way i described it instead of right out and saying it was surger y i was talking about. Coulda' been better i suppose but it was a hard topic to write about. Keep it up..lovely poem! lol. XXLISSA
