The Struggle

Right or left
Up or down
In or out
Smile or frown

These are only a few choices
Which we make everyday
Some are more extreme
And involve what you say

What do you say to the dark?
Or to the light?
They both gang up on you
And cause you to fight

Do people really love me?
Should I help the dying man?
Was he a victim of the darkness?
Should I do all that I can?

Did she really mean it
When she complimented my looks
Should I hang out with my friends?
Or go hit the books?

The dark tries to belittle you
While the light shows you all the good
The struggle between right and wrong
Questions if you even should

Life is a mysterious thing
But if it were to end
You would wake up to see
All the love that it can send
