Ashes

I knew I could not fly,
my wingers were iced & broken,
my broken heart weighed me down,
I could not even walk,
yet you lifted me up,
took me to the sky,
helped me be free once more,
warmed me with oyur touch,
loved me through your gaze,
left me alone to die.

I lived alone for years,
I'll live just once more,
for this is the last time,
I let the fire reach my heart,
for only ashes remain,
so I'll place them on hte breeze,
let it fly alone,
far from me,
I prefer my solitary shadows where my soul can sleep.
