Just want you to want me

I think of all the good things,
that i have in my life today,
I try to focus on the positive,
but the bad things won't go away,

I try to be perfect for them all,
but in this I can't succeed,
There are many things hurting me,
I think this sucks indeed,

This is the life i am used to,
violence, anger, hurt and pain,
I do not copy these people,
but i will never trust again,

I want to feel special and loved,
and safe when times are bad,
I wish I had a mum to comfort me,
whenever I might be feeling sad,

My parents ran off and left me,
after beating me for 12 years,
I got put with total strangers,
who often left me alone in tears,

They never really accepted me,
but hey, they were getting paid,
One day they'll wake up and realize,
the difference to my life they could have made.
