The Three Certificates Of Life

by lonelynow   Jan 22, 2006

Birth, Death and Marriage
The three certificates of life
Here they are all gathered
Proof of happiness, loneliness and strife

The first one cries 'well done!'
A healthy baby for you!
You must be proud of your tiny child
Don't let that child see you blue!

But none of these certificates tell
Of those who life ended shortly after it's start
My baby passed, mum dyed in childbirth
Miniature coffins that break your heart

The next one is a 'congratulations!'
You've found someone who loves you back!
Spending life together sounds wonderful yes?
Let's hope there's nothing you lovebirds will lack!

But none of these certificates tell
Of the misery that can come about
Loosing your partner is a hard one
So is abuse or someone who loves to shout

The last in this series of life
Is nearly always the hardest to take
Dad died peacefully in his sleep last night
Sadness stuttered out at every wake

But none of theses certificates tell
The gruesome ways some have died
Murder, or just a baby gone
The way mothers, siblings, have cried

Birth, Death and Marriage
The three certificates of life
Can you see the misery behind
These tales of happiness, loneliness and strife?
