Moon and Wind (revised)

by Erica   Jan 22, 2006

His old white face smiles down
Moon sits among the skies
As he slowly circles Earth
Moon sings her lullabies

Wind comes out to sing with Moon
Go dancing with the stars
Maybe drift out far enough
To touch the skin of Mars

Wind came out one empty night
To sing with Moon once more
Wind skids across oceans waves
Dances along the shore

But as Wind drifts farther up
To greet Moon's old white face
Moon hides beyond vast gray clouds
Leaving shadows for wind to chase

Before wind can even speak
Moon pours down all his pain
Dumping from his vast gray clouds
Moon's melancholy rain

Wind calls out in great despair
Hoping Moon will heed his cry
But Moon heartlessly responds
With a dark hallow sigh

Wind howls out in anger
And cries out in concern
Left in broken agony
He longs for Moons return

Someday they'll sing together
Go dancing with the stars
Maybe drift out far enough
To touch the skin of mars
