My Mistake

by Bridie   Jan 8, 2004

I miss the sorrow I felt
I miss the pain I knew
I miss the way you loved me
And the way I loved you too

Have you ever felt warm blood
At the end of your finger tips
The cool movement of steel
Biting through your wrist

The slow sinking feeling
The world beyond your reach
How this pain had scarred you
This pain you wanted to teach

I wanted them to know
That life isn’t always kind
The shock of dizziness comes
And leaves me out of my mind

I took the knife from the rack
Looked at the glinting light
My life flashed before my eyes
Trying to put up a fight

Learning to read a book
Learning to ride my bike
Learning to dance like mom
Learning to fly a kite

Loving my first love
Kissing my first kiss
Dancing my first dance
And now I tell you this

I don’t want this to happen
I don’t want to tempt my fate
I’m already realizing
I am deaths new date

I thought our love would grow
If I was there with you
But heaven’s full of angels
I’ll be shipped off somewhere new

A world for lost souls
Of broken promises shed
Helpless spirits wishing
For the time that they weren’t dead

As I lay here dying
I think of my mistake
Wishing I didn’t do it
Confuse my love for hate

I miss the sorrow I felt
I miss the pain I knew
I miss the way you loved me
And the way I loved you too

Hey can you take a little time and read my other poem Blind To Who I Am ? it would mean so much if you could vote for it. thanks
