One Dream; One Hope: MLK

by McCall   Jan 24, 2006

Emancipation...
One man fighting for freedom
For those who should have already been free.
That man who wouldn\'t drink from colored water fountains
Who fought for unity, equality, and urged the population to
Change their opinions on
Who can live, walk, breathe, learn, love, and share
With you.

Dreams.
He had a dream.
That man that wouldn\'t stand for hatred, but walked with Rosa
Walked down that freedom line
Down a path we could all follow
In his footsteps.
Footsteps on a beach are often swallowed with every wave that comes to shore
But no white-man wave could swallow the Doctor\'s pride
Took the criticism with his head held high
Simply believing
With the knowledge that peace
Can reign victorious when the verbal replaces the physical

But maybe we\'re just being simply analytical
Looking in hindsight at works that we certainly couldn\'t achieve
But the desire to provoke change
Within the human population
Was his own declaration
Of what he thought should be.

He was a dreamer, and following Langston, he didn\'t let it die
He gave it life and through that he became the dream
The dream itself was Martin
And Martin was the dream.
