Another Empty Valentine.

by Steven Beesley   Jan 27, 2006

Another Empty Valentine:

Another morning as the stars and night
give way to the warmth of the sun.
But the warmth cannot find it's way
to fill this lonely heart.

As I breathe in the sweet morning air,
is this to be another empty Valentine's day?
I see many around rejoice
in their happy song and dance.

Joyful with what the day will bring,
to many sweet love and wonderful emotion.
I sit and rub sun block lotion on my skin,
but yet it is my heart that burns.

Yearning for you to call me your
sweet Valentine and to feel
the dance of your lips on mine,
but alas this is not meant to be.

Just another empty Valentine!

An excellent poem, my friend. In my humble opinion, Valentine's day is too commercialised now, empty, as your poem says. This is why I liked your poem as a criticism of society in a very subtle (perhaps, unitended) manner. Well done on an excellent poem.
