My Scars

by lonelynow   Jan 28, 2006

My scars you cannot see
You never could see the true me
My scars are on my heart
But I have none, must be some other part

My scars are for every time you hurt me
Still hurting, though you say I can't be
My scars are for every time you laughed at how I'm feeling
And I lay there on my bed crying at the ceiling

Each look makes the knife go even more deep
Knife? I didn't say knife. Don't make me weep
Why do you do this? Isn't my life bad enough?
You don't know what it's like to feel rough

Don't you ever wonder why I cry?
I never even need to lie
You say you don't want to know if it'll make you sad
Nothing in my life could possibly be that bad!

My scars are the ones you can't touch
What do you mean I talk about myself too much?
Please don't say I moan or whine
Cause they're not your scars; they're mine

I trace my scars along my arm
Who are you to say I self-harm?
I don't you know; I am too weak
I just write down the poems I speak

The scars so strange, b/c half the time I love them, but later looking at them just makes me feel sick. I try to hide them, but they are still so pretty, those long purple lines, forever to remain apart of me. Amazing poem.
