Age to make you wise

by bex   Jan 29, 2006

Age to make you wise
in our youth we cradled sin
while the seconds unwind
the bruises darken on your skin
crept out my childish tears
tasting sweet in the open
toes curled and frozen
imagining all my fears

a wrinkled smile hopelessly dwindles
supple skin with riot in the eyes
too quiet to be noticed, a lust in fire kindles
the smoke inside them never dies
star gazing for a lifetime
take a chance to hear her
deafened to her burnout crime
tonight the stars will seize her
entrapment of the night

growth to feel complete
our missing pieces stay concealed
the life in her is wearing thin
spoken word leaves more revealed
you kept with you your Polaroid memories
an album of your years
she'd forget it all in a glance and bite back the fears
withered as the leaves, not quite torn at the seams

age to make you wise
in her youth she spoke in sins
while the seconds unwind
the colour floods from her skin
crept out my restrained tears
bitter in the open
toes curled and frozen
she escaped her fears.
