Breathe (Gay Poem)

by Michael   Jan 29, 2006

Reality;
where pain thrives
hatred conquers
and words
can torture humans.

Through vague eyes
judgement comes swift
word fills the air
rushing through gentle ears
dread keeps echoing,
"Fag."?

Pain
distress
lonely
words to difficult
to explain.

Everyday
story repeats
like time itself.

Hatred consuming humans
homophobia lurking
violence at high
normality is correct.

"Change"
they say
but happiness is deprived
love is meaningless
life incomplete.

Perhaps in future
discrimination is false theory,
acceptance is common,
normal is different,
paradise is Earth
hatred is forgotten
when we can finally breathe again...

I thouroghly enjoyed this poem, not only did it have a wonderful strong message but the word choice was perfect. It flowed from one line to the next in a brilliant form to provide even more power to the message. Congrats on a beautiful write and I hope one day we will all live in a world where tolerance is a requirement and people can be who they really are. Keep dreaming, keep smiling!
