The Words Unspoken

by Katie   Jan 29, 2006

My bruised heart is bursting
with just so much to say,
But will revealing the truth
just turn you away?

I long to tell you
how you reached to my heart,
through all of my walls
that were there from start.
I long to tell you
how I believed every word,
and then became blinded
to all else that I heard.

You calmed all my doubts,
reassured every fear,
And finally your presence
I began to hold dear.

I finally gave in
and gave you that chance,
Only to realize
you'd soon change your stance.

It was never enough,
time flew too fast.
For now it is only
a dream of the past.

You say we're ok,
after all we've been through.
But I can't help but feel
as though I've lost you.

I held not a care
but for the friendship we'd share.
Yet now I can see
when I look in your face,
You have another
who has taken my place.

So go on back to her
since you're still in that hold.
I'll stand here - at a distance
accepting this cold.

And so written here
with this book hid away,
Are some of the things
to you I can't say,
For revealing the truth
will just turn you away.
