you were so much like a hero

i was upset
not hugging you is what i regret
The phone rang the next day
to bad news i would awake
the day had come,
you had gone away
i would never get to say goodbye
or see once more
the twinkle in your eye
but at least you would be happy
at least you would feel safe
at least you got out
of this miserable place
