Rustic Beauty

by Kim   Jan 30, 2006

Forever
Cradled by the steady sea
Lost in waves tumbling free
Though life can unpredictable be

Beautiful
In autumn's resplendent glory
Flaming trees sing nature's story
Proudly claiming their territory

For
Harsh rugged cliffs may soar
Towering high over forest floor
Fighting gravity's private war

Its
Untamed, unchained and unploughed
With secrets behind every shroud
Unforgiving and undoubtedly proud

Fierce
Winds that buffet the unchanging coast
And thunder with its roaring boast
Can never take away what I love most

Undying
Loyalty from the mountains high
And swaying forest's lullaby
Freedom in this land won't die

Spirit
In every rock and stone
Through tree, field and plain shall roam
In this rustic beauty, my only home

Forever beautiful for its fierce undying spirit

*note - I probably should let the reader discover this on their own but the last phrase "forever beautiful for its fierce undying spirit" Contains the first word from every stanza*

I love nature poems and this one was fantastic. I like the way you used all the words to make the last line.

I absolutely love this poem! It is so beautiful, especially how you put it together. I'm in awe! I may be reading it wrong, but I can't help but think that it's about the ocean ? Unless I'm just a doufus and that was right in front of my face the whole time... lol Either way, it's very lovely. I love the choice of words and the nice flow it creates.
Thanks for your comment on my poem! I lived in Mount Pearl until I was about 10, then I moved to Alberta, but I spent a lot of my time in Dildo/New Harbour and Hants Harbour, because I have a lot of family over there. I miss it terribly!
It was nice talking to you, I hope to do it again!
