A Birthday Wish

I want to tell you
But I know that I can't,
Because then I'll jinx it
And that's just the start.

I've been trying forever
But today was the day,
When I gave up trying
To pretend I will say.

And so I asked for help
As my eyes closed and I blew,
I wished for something
That no-one ever knew.

And it's the first time I've cried
As I've blown my candle out,
And I was almost glad you weren't there
Cause I know at you I'd shout.

But I know I'd regret that
Cause I'll never hate you,
You're the one that I wish for
And that'll always be true.
