Condescending

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 2, 2006

Far from the denial and pretending
Critical remarks are condescending
Arguments can open the eyes
Wounded by the truth or lies

It is hard to change our position
Without remedial contrition
Words void of thought condescend
What the heart can't comprehend

Either we do, or do not care
In disagreements passions flare
Dignity is gained or lost
Foolish pride comes with cost

We cannot assume to know
Who will be our fiend or foe?
To lift us up, or put us down
Greet us with a smile or frown

The quest for peace can be so demanding
Without the divine gift of understanding
Far from the denial and pretending
Critical remarks are condescending

Very powerful words, so much truth in it. People get lost in their own foolish pride so often and tempers flare, but who will win? Nicely penned.

    Best regards,
