Cry In the Night

by Weeping Wolf   Feb 2, 2006

The despairing moon was stagnated
somewhere over the carved mountains
gleaming darkly above an empty lake
its reflection trapped for eternity
lost beings of caution lurk in the dark
never knowing...only waiting in dread...

A cry! A cry in the wailing forest!

This night, this time, this loneliness
the woods become petrified, hypnotized
this sound more fierce than any beast
This weep sadder than any humans sob
A bitter elegy that stung all the eyes
of every creature with unconstrained tears
everyone heard this warning of the future
they heard it's tears, they saw it's sorrows

By the lake, sung under the moon
this is what is keeping the forest alive
this mourns the reason the night will die

A cry! A cry in the wailing forest!
Then leaves the moon and sunshine slays all!

and only one cry...this cry in the night...
knows this future, unseen and untold.

I loved the darkness you incorporated into your poem. Very beautiful too, and it makes you think.

    Great job!
