Listen

by Nearly but not quite   Feb 2, 2006

"Listen!" I'm screaming
But you do not hear.
"Listen!" not healing,
But you don't lend an ear.

Am I mute without knowing it?
Why can you not hear me?
Am I a silent spirit?
That nobody can see me?

I scream as loud as I can,
But you cannot listen.
Too intent on getting a tan,
And your glasses silently glisten.

Please, please, pray take heed.
You may want to ignore,
But so great is my need,
and you are the key and door.

So please do not lock yourself,
You could hear if you try.
Don't just label me on a shelf.
Or it may be that I'll die.

PLEASE LISTEN!
