You taught me life was difficult,
but not to give in.
There are things out there,
that alone, you will have to win.

You told me that things may be hard,
but life is going to be okay.
I may not see it now,
But I will some day.

You stayed by my side,
When all I could do was cry.
You made me laugh with stupid things,
And somehow found my smile.

You always had some silly way,
Of finding my real smile.
My life seemed so great when you were around,
It wasn't covered up with lies.

I'm so happy to have you here,
Even though we've drifted apart.
I know that you will stay by my side,
Deep down in my heart.
