Birthday Tears

I hear crying
But where does it come from?
I feel my face
As the tears run down
Like the cold embrace
I was given on my birthday

You didn't sing or act like anyone was around
I wanted to cry and my whole family knew it too,
except you
My brother tried to console me but it was no use
My dad tried too
But what I really needed was comfort from you
You took no part

You broke all our traditions
You didn't even acknowledge the presents being open
You just sat on the couch watching TV
Like I wasn't across the room
I felt so ashamed of you

You know I'm tired
I barely got any sleep last night
Then why the tirade?
Is this a joke or just a sick game?
I said I was sorry even though I have nothing to be sorry for
You said it was okay
Then why ignore me
The one day I feel special a year
I was starting to see things looking up for me
It's a good thing you pulled me back down again so I could feel horribly
