Download Criminals

by Chris Harding   Feb 4, 2006

As we stand on ashen ground
Black days wear weary shoulders down
The heavy hearted embrace their loss with empty smiles
We struggle with the weight of the truth that we carry
Pushed on only by the memory of those lost
Victims of the fire that burns within us all

I defy you

To stand and bar our righteousness
No bliss in your ignorance
As we become your nightmare
Fanatics of the cause
Defenders of our faith
On what what side will you be
When that line in the sand
Divides the whole beach

Brothers torn apart
Made criminals in the eyes of the law
Over the freedom of information
That becomes intolerable
In this corporate climate
Armed only with our voices
Our cries fall on death ears

As an army of lawyers
Confuse an already clouded issue
Courtroom brawls
And expensive bar bills
Become our legacy
As we descend into the darkness of legal limbo

Now alone as I stand where we stood
On this ashen ground
Black days have worn
These weary shoulders down
As with my heavy heart
I embrace our loss
With an empty smile
