Yesterday

by Mitch   Feb 4, 2006

Moonlight glistens across the water,
Waiting for waves to break it apart.
While stars twinkle above the earth,
Patiently expecting a new day to start.

A gentle breeze whispers silence,
Into the comfortably placid air.
Until suddenly the sun starts to rise,
And its more than the night can bare.

The illumination awakes the earth,
Along with everything in its grasp.
The new day has begun now,
And yesterday is considered the past.

Memories are all that remain,
Of the day that once was here.
And as the sun navigates the sky,
The death of another day is near.

As the sun makes its exit,
In an explosion of wondrous light,
Only a few hours remain in today,
And they'll be spent in the loneliness of the night.
