Madame Bijoux

by Sondos   Feb 4, 2006

Inspired after watching Titanic

Yellowed pearls and rusted rubies
Reminders of the passion of youth
Moth-eaten furs
The silk, the mink
She takes her gin and drinks with care
Her eyes dart here
Waiting for wink over there
Where are the ones who'd said she'd go far?
'Skin of a baby' they'd said.
Where are they now?
Yes, she is not what she used to be
Her linen nightgowns no longer fit
Her hair is no longer the silk of angels
She is not what she was
But she still has the memories
The non-existent memories
Become regrets
She still has the goods, the souvenirs
The silk, the mink, the rubies and watches
She is still Madame Bijoux

Felt like i was watching a scene from the movie play out in my imagination. This was very well written, especially for a person your age. You are a teriffic writer and your talent will only blossom with practice (not that you need much...lol)

Hey here is a poet after my own heart...but you are different for sure...i've never met a 14 year old who was interested in writing nostalgic poems...most 14 year olds are wrapped up in whatever problems they perceive they have at their age, or looking to the future.

This reminds me of the movie too, particularly the old woman at the end of the film.

    well done.
