Better Days

by Dee   Feb 5, 2006

Better days are forthcoming
I know it in my heart
I stand optimistic
That we will fall apart

No more shouldering this illusion
of how much we are meant to be
No longer I feel captivated
From the love that is calling me

The concept of our little family
Means nothing to me these days
I wish I could pick our daughter up
And say goodbye and walk away

You cannot fix what is not broken
That is what I hear
You cannot mend a wounded heart
When you haven't any tears

You cannot reconcile
Or mend a broken heart
When you really never felt love
And your life is falling apart

When there is no communication
You have no path to take
Somehow you realize
That you made a huge mistake

How can you make it work
When your heart is feeling so alone
No hope for reconciliation
When you are chilled down to the bone

Each day you look love in the eye
And somehow you still feel hopeful
Then live with the disappointment
When you realize love is null

Take it with a grain of salt
Or find the strength to walk away
Accept the tarnished memories
Or insist on living in better days

Do not waste too much time
On what does not feel right
Find a way to be hopeful
When you kiss each other goodnight.

Admit to one another
That you both have reached the end
Then give up on this montrosity
And be true to your feelings within

No more fake homecomings
Never pretend that we are okay
Let's just kiss each other goodbye
And smile as we walk away
AND FIND BETTER DAYS!
