Aftermath

by Jemma   Feb 8, 2006

Deep in the night, in the dim light of car parks, stories screaming
Laughs echo near, reeking of fear, what is it all about?

Birds in a tree, screeching at me
Can't find a path to climb
Nails on the board, sounds getting old
Whatever I want I find

Even when the day is dawning
Evil things from night were forming

I can't seem to keep on walking
Silence screams and yet I'm talking
Oh, what is happening to me?

I can't seem to trace my fingers
The putrid stench of battle lingers
Oh, never knew it was so near

Birds in a tree, screeching at me
Can't find a path to climb
Nails on the board, sounds getting old
Whatever I want I find

Swords and spears, bloody fears
I can't see the way now
Crashes of steel and I can feel
The thousand eyes upon me

I can't seem to see the red sun
Thought it could find everyone
Except me, never me
But whatever I want I find

Birds in a tree, screeching at me
Can't find a path to climb
Nails on the board, sounds getting old
Whatever I want I find

Collapse in the heat, anxious to see
An escape catastrophic
Laughs in the clouds, hiding the shrouds
Doubts of a shamed agnostic

Eyes try to hide, fear pounces wide
Blood red sunsets here
Now I'm alone, drenched to the bone
Nobody left to fear

Birds in a tree, laughing at me
Can't see the path to climb
Nails on the board, sounds getting old
Whatever I want I find
Whatever I want I'll find now
