Daddy Dearest

by Dani   Feb 9, 2006

Don't you realize this is only your label?
You are not my father.
You do not show the love I wish you would.
I sit here
inhaling and exhaling lonelyness
and you can't seem to find the reasons why.
Hate runs through my veins for you,
circulating around and creating what I feel for you.
Don't you wish you could slit these wrists
and watch the proof wash away?
Oh, you are mistaken.
This will not wash away.
It only creates a new puddle of emotions.
Wade in it, Daddy.
Take a step in my shoes.
How does it feel to live on the outside?
Does your tone seem a bit louder now?
Does it all seem a bit too harsh?
Watch those words, father.
You have seemed to of made a mistake.
I heard you,
I heard every word
and I am not useless.
No, I believe that is you now.
You do not exist to me anymore.
Your words may affect me
but they will not rip right through me again.
I am adding a new layer to these walls.
A barrier
to keep you out.
