Death's Bait

by Ashley Mullinax   Feb 9, 2006

Life is to be lived
that's what i'm told
but who knew that life
could be so cold.

All the times
spent all alone
all the screams
the broken homes.

Threats made in vain
all the pain we feel
promises lost
the wounds unhealed.

Stages of doubt
when you are confused
you question your faith
and which path to choose.

Dreams once strived for
they eventually fade
lunacy sets in
and you are afraid.

With no one to talk to
where do you turn?
there is no place
your sanity slowly burns.

Like the candle
that was lit at your birth
it quickly melts to nothing
showing your worth.

Your whole family
is now faceless
your friends seem
to be completely nameless.

In a shadowed corner
you sit and cry
knowing that all ends
and life will subside.

So you breathe in
and patiently you wait
for Death to come
and take your bait.
