Once upon a time when men ruled their fate
There lived a brat prince consumed with hate
He was a fat, sheltered child who spoke of what he knew not
Twas by books and teachers alone was his wisdom got
Romantic in thinking because he knew how to sway
People’s emotions and choices to get his own way
When he was still but a boy, the crown fell to his head
And he was made king before they buried the dead
His reign was unpopular, none would follow him
If he walked on water, they’d say he couldn’t swim
He went to his counsel and begged their advice
They suggested he settle with a nice, loving wife
So he sent for a girl to meet such demands
And began setting forth his newly engineered plans
Women came from all over of the prettiest size
But he fell for the girl with the flame in her eyes
She turned changeling upon their wedding night
With a flick of her wrist, she pulled her dagger in sight
His mirth at once turned to despair
And he began to run up the stairs
Catching up to him was not very hard
After all, the fat bow-legged one can’t run far
The fairy chased the king to the tower
Where he remains, despite withering power
Kept prisoner here by one so lithe and airy
The king is bereft, to be guarded by a fairy
For one who had conquered the very heaven’s above
This cell is his hell, the king’s torment is love
