To Be Different

You try so hard to be different
When we're really all the same
Everyone acts so cool and tough
When all they are is lame

Individuality is important
But is it that big of a deal?
Deep down we're all alike
Caught in a continuous wheel

There are those who are prep
Caught up in drama and emotion
And then the punks and Goths
Drowning in the commotion

But sometimes it's nice to think
You are your own self
Not knowing that your neighbor
Is thinking the same thing of herself
