You ask what's wrong
I say"nothing, nothing at all, I'm fine"
then I flash you a smile
that says"I'm happy and always have been"

you stare for another second or two
you then say"OK good, I hoped so"

too bad you listened to me
and bought my little white lie

if only you had looked in my eyes
looked deep down inside

you would have seen the sign
that is forever posted there

"This heart is forever broken
and mottled with sin
Never to be released
of the pain it's always in"

I'm sorry I have told such lies
but you should have seen the warning
plastered across my eyes
