This love was pure.

I'm here again.
You know the place.
It's where we first met,
Where I first saw your face.

Staring at the place
Where we sat that night.
We talked for a long time,
Until the day's light.

I stare at the now empty seat.
I smile at the stories told.
I see you smiling back,
I remember being so bold.

With you I was a different person.
I was who I wanted to be.
With you, I didn't have to hide,
You loved me for me.

I wish it were that easy with everybody.
I wish that you weren't the only one.
Friendliness with others seemed so forced,
But with you it was fun.

I wish I were in control,
But this I lack
I can wish all I want,
But that won't bring you back.

And now I sit here alone,
In this seat facing yours.
Except you're not in it,
No, you walked out those doors.

You'll be back,
For this I'm sure.
This wasn't just a dream,
This love was pure.
