God and the devil [Clonjerian Sonnet]

by Clonjey   Feb 14, 2006

The Lord and the devil tap their glasses in cheers.
Rejoicing in success for confirming my fears.
They will eliminate me but not because they hate me.
It is because of the qualities that make me.
My potential to do good here scares the devil.
Yet their is good in the world I could embezzle.
God knows I could destroy earth if I was careless.
And the devil's fear of me leaves him embarrassed.
I fear that this just may be my final hour,
simply because God granted me too much power.
Therefore, clearly, there is only one solution.
My maker and hater plan my execution.
