Box Of Treasures

How do you swallow the deepest emotional pain?
The tearing of something so filling and true,
From a life, now barren and cold.
How do you tell what has rejected you?
When your mind will not function and your limbs will not move.
How do you learn to feel again?
When your nervous system has been bitten,
torn and stabbed repeatedly.
How do you heal a broken heart?
When it has been thrown at a brick wall and shattered into a thousand shards.
How do you throw the blanket of love?
When it is sewn through your very soul,
comforting you and keeping you warm.
How do you know when the blankets worn through?
When the thread holding it together removes.
How do you see when loneliness strikes?
When you are protected by a sheet of iron,
wrapping around your box of treasures.
One vial of the deepest emotional pain,
one dysfunctional mind and several still limbs,
one demolished nervous system,
and a shattered broken heart,
One worn, tattered blanket,
no longer warm and comfortable,
now old and scratchy,
ever itchy and frustrating,
ever clawing at your soul,
like a demon in disguise,
A demon in the midst of your
