The Wish

by Tanya Miller   Feb 16, 2006

I wish the world could understand,
there doesn't have to be a difference.
Maybe if we were all blind,
maybe then we would finally see.
See ourselves and others from the inside.
Not seeing the cosmetics given to us from God involved.
Not getting that first glance,
that glance of intimidation that turns so many of us away.
Though we are not blind,
We still choose not to see.
Maybe someday that childhood innocence in us,
the part that shows no fear.
Will finally walk away from the path society makes us follow.
Maybe someday we will finally hold hands,
walk this world together as friends.
One world, One path, One race.
Only then may we call ourselves human...
