This Day...

by Vic   Feb 16, 2006

New chapter has opened, familiar yet different
Approach to life changed, body follows new consent
Surrender my soul to the inevitable Dark
Day of insurmountable pain, this day of hearts
Consumed by flames of lasting sorrow
Restricted joy, nowhere to go
Trapped by shards of broken vows
Unswept, they pierce, cut deeply now
Years of anger, years of pain built
Scarred by failed evasions from guilt

New chapter now, yet still the same road
Instead of chance, sure doom I chose
Society; outcast; now avoid interaction
Previously succumb to the virus, now immune to infection
I run away and retreat into safety
Where lies such as love dare not find me
Heart twice barricaded: laced by barbed wire
Ensure heart break's not risked, wall lined with fire
This day I am ready; my heart won't agitate
No move to love, no room for mistakes
