So far away

by skiba   Jan 16, 2004

I stand beside your coffin today
gazing upon your lifeless body
I saw you lying there
with you eyes closed tightly shut
how could something so close to me
be so ever far away

many people came to look
to look at you one last time
a kiss they gave you on your face
would be all they could keep to remember
someone that we knew so well
had left the earth forever

when we think about
the day that you died
we look to the day before
the day we hadn’t a single clue
today you were not coming home

then we think about today
today the day we had to say
we never will forget you
we love you and goodbye

as you were lowered into the ground
the roses on your casket disappeared
some look at you now
six feet under a stone
but you are ever so far away

so close we thought you were
but really so far away
I thought about where you were
then I came to realize
it’s not to bad for you to be
so ever far away
