My friend the kitty cat(ending one)

by ...   Feb 18, 2006

Dedicated to the kitty cat that came and said hello to me..

I was taking out the trash one night
when, to my suprise
i saw a something in the dark
with amber, glowing eyes

cautiously, i approached it
as it stared me down
but when i came closer
i smiled at what id found

a gorgeous little kitty cat
black with feet like socks
and a tiny little tail
was on my letterbox

the kitty cat jumped to the ground
landing in a patch of clover
she sniffed the hand i placed near her
and simply just rolled over

i scratched her furry belly
and giggled at her purr
as she batted at my moving arms
while i tickled her

soon enough it was time to go
i had homework to do
so i hugged the kitty cat goodnight
but this was not goodbye, i knew

the next night there she was again
on my letterbox
with her stumpy little tail
and fluffy white fur socks

and everynight. my friend came back
same time, without fail
to purr and play and roll and pounce
and wave that little tail

but one night when the moon was wide
and moonlight leaked across the ground
no matter how long i looked and called
my kitty could not be found

That night was full of screeches
of shrieks and moans and more
but when the noises finally stopped
there was a scratching on my door

i opened up my back door
but there was nothing there
maybe all the shrieking
had just given me a scare

the next morning, i woke up
and went back to the door
i opened it then looked around
then looked to the floor

my eyes filled with tears of pain
as i looked down to the ground
there WAS a scratching at my door last night
and id found the source of the sound

my darling little kitty
had gotten into a fight
but seeing as no help did come
she'd died during the night

i picked up her fragile body
covered with blood and matted fur
i stroked her head..i hoped..i prayed
but no longer would she purr

if only id looked down that night
and been able to help my kitty friend
i just mightve been able to save her
it might notve been the end..

i buried her that morning
as the tears ran from my eyes
i stroked her head
but i knew, this time, it was goodbye
