My Fifty-Sixth Poem

by Dee   Feb 20, 2006

I have written fifty five poems
In a little over a year
This is the only place
That I can unleash my fear

Sometimes when I write them
I truly speak my mind
Other times I cry
For the days I left behind

Sometimes it is reality
Other times it is a dream
But most of all I credit
My poems as an expression of only me

So no matter how you rate them
With a three, a four, or a five
Sitting here late at night
Is what keeps me alive

A secret place for me to express
All of my feelings deep within
And not having to rely on
A not so close friend

It seems as friends and life
Keep on passing by
We are friends today
And we are enemies at night

Never count your blessings
Until they have come true
Remember you cannot rely on
Anyone but you.
