My Fear

Before I can let you love me,
Before I can answer the question,
On whether or not I love you,
I must first make a confession,

No matter how much I may want you to,
You may never have all of my heart,
Because, the last time I gave it away,
It was badly torn apart,

No matter how much I feel for you,
In any single way,
You must understand my heart,
It's not easily given away,

No matter how much I trust you,
Or, how long we have been,
I may never give all of my heart,
Because of the past it has seen,

Piece by piece you'll earn it,
Maybe even a piece everyday,
But initially I could never fully,
Give all of my heart away,

Please say you understand,
Or now leave as you may,
Otherwise, you'll further tear,
The pieces which have been already torn away.
