What I expected

by Cheri Torres   Feb 20, 2006

What I expected, was
Hugs and kisses,
And together forever,
Whispering sweet nothings,
That put a smile on the face,
And warm feelings in the heart,
At first it was this way,
But as the old saying goes,
Nothing last forever.

What I had not foreseen was
The heartbreak of growing apart,
Knowing him so well,
Yet still feeling,
The uncomfortable silence of strangers,
Having a feeling,
of being alone in the dark,
Wishing love could never be lost,
But knowing ours soon would be.

The pain of loneliness,
And the fear of letting go,
Every tear telling our story,
Of a love so pure and true,
Knowing what is best,
But still holding on so tight,
These, I could not foresee.

Expecting always
Some good memories to keep us going,
Some love to rely on,
Hugs to bring us back to life,
A kiss to regain the passion,
Something our of a fairytale,
With only a happy ending.
