Sonnet I: Steering Wheel

by Rusted x Heart   Feb 21, 2006

Illuminating my path with headlights,
Driving farther from where I once began,
A flashing realization of hindsight,
No longer a child, but this lonesome man.
Has this life been but a fateful necklace,
The green nature placed around me, jaded?
And the nature of me, oh so reckless,
Each living memory slowly faded.
No gleams in the rusted rearview mirror,
As breathing lights they fade into the night,
The tormented skies within get clearer,
And a renaissance does my mind invite.
Everchanging as the wheels beneath me,
I'll rebuild my life out of this debris.

Your words bring forth so many images that I have to slow down as I read. It's so easy for me to be swept away into deeper thought. Great write!
