The Puppet

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Feb 21, 2006

Hanging on silver threads from the ceiling
Is the body of a boy lost in time
Sat on a rock and wrote a note to his lost loved one
Put it in a bottle and let the sea drift it away
He waited and waited many a years
Just for an answer to prove to his peers
To prove that he was not a loser, that he, just like all the other kids
Was capable of finding the one
So he sat on that rock, day upon night
Waiting for an answer to his crinkled up love letter
The bottle came back one day
In it, a new piece of paper did lay
He pulled it out and saw a reply
With a smirk on a face he did prepare
He took his spot on the rock, crossed his legs and started to read
' To you my love, whomever you may be,
I am on a mission, to bring you to me.
If you are reading this, do not be afraid,
For your love shall be consumed in my wraith.
Write back to me and you can see for yourself,
Because what is life without that someone else?
The words he had written so many years ago
Just came back to him without another note
He turned the page over and saw some words
Smeared by the water, for what it said...nobody knows
Nobody but the girl laughing such a maniacal laugh at the boy
A gypsy upon her chair looking into her crystal ball
As the tears fall down to boys quivering face
Laughs stream out of the gypsies angry little mouth.
' I've alwalwayss wanted a puppet '
her voice did creak, no one ever plays with me '
the boy pretends no letter came
to his school friends the very next day
but in his heart, only he knows
the pain that he felt the day before
a girl comes to him one day on the street
some four years later
they spend some time together, no strings attached
until the day that the police do find the boy
in an old building
' belonged to a mad woman was what I heard '
said the farmer
as he left the police there alone
they raised their head and saw in the shining moonlight
a pair of gleaming silver threads hanging from the roof around the boys neck
and a gypsy above him in the rafters playing with her perfect puppet.
