The Last Mile
That last mile, came so quickly,
Too soon for me to realize,
Yet longer than most,
Still shorter than many,
My life's been good,
Good grades, special someone, and true love,
There's plenty more to be done,
But that'll just have to wait,
There's more important things God wants me to do,
I've been in love,
I've stood on a mountain,
I've bathed in the sea,
Satisfies me,
But more could have been done,
Lord, I know I'm not perfect,
And very far from it,
But the truth is, I don't want to be perfect,
Because my life was well lived,
I'm not at the last mile of life,
The last 84 years have been great,
So full, So amazing,
Wish I had more time,
But unfortunately,
The hour glass has run out,
My time has come,
I'm slowly slipping away,
Minute by minute,
Everything's gone gray, now black,
That's it,
My life on the face of the Earth, is over,
But,
Bright lights shine in my eyes,
I'm starting over,
Same me, but different place,
Here I am,
Awaiting at Heaven's Gates,
Waiting to start again,
Because, I just finished the last mile.
