Sleepless night

by ChrisT   Feb 24, 2006

Today I don't think the sun set right
My eyes turned red and the sky scarlet
Maybe I should have put up a stronger fight
So the night would be so star lit

Tonight the moon is so off shape
The crescent is no longer curving
Or light and I are no longer deserving
And darkness sheets over me like a cape

Currently sleeping is such a fairy tale
With no goblins, ghosts or happy endings
The words are like bread set to long and stale
That are covered with phrases of painful mending's

These drowning dreams haunt my nightmares
This vaguely-blurry, yet taunting description
Is nothing but these heartless dares
And my black heart's sorrow inscription

I merit nothing from these cries
Or when the dawn rises in thee end
And nothing when my shriveled heart dies
And lays in its grave and upends
