The Power of Love

by Michelle   Jan 18, 2004

Love is you being there when things are bad
Taking the unhappy along with the glad
Love is always having someone on whom you can depend
Who will be there not only as a lover, but friend
Love rarely disappoints, yet when it does
Quickly follows forgiveness, laughter and trust
Love gives our heart a home when it feels lost
And gives at least as much as it gets, no matter the cost
Love lifts us to our feet when we've tumbled down
And swaps in an instant a smile for our frown
When we've been brought to our knees with tragedies and strife
Love gently reminds us there's more to our life
Love doesn't allow us long to wallow in pity or doubt
But opens those doors and shows us the way out
Unending, unfailing, Love's circle of light
Shows moonlight through the clouds on our darkest night
And then love again, too, on our happiest day
Gives us the feeling that they'res nothing could stand in our way
Patient with our anxiety, love will find a way
To lead us to that place where we're unafraid
But love, it's brightest most shining quality,
Is that it has the power to bring you to me.
