Unaware

by Poetvoices   Feb 25, 2006

The self-conscious girl holds in her laugh.
She covers up her smile.
She just shuts down and up
for a little while.

No one knows that she can speak,
because when they're around,
she makes herself invisible.
She's nowhere to be found.

He noticed her from across the room.
He couldn't believe what he saw.
Was this girl a new girl?
She hadn't the tiniest flaw.

She HAD to be new, because
he hadn't seen her around.
She got up from the empty table,
her eyes glued to the ground.

She didn't know how beautiful she was.
She hadn't been told so.
She left lunch for the library.
The boy just let the girl go.
