Remembrance Day

by Jesslyn   Feb 25, 2006

*I actually didn't write this poem... My older brother Michael did. It means a lot me, this poem and it was written really well so I thought it would be cool to share it since most people don't realize our ancestors gave their lives to keep us save and give us freedom. So just remember that while reading this poem*

Remembrance Day
By Michael Simpkins (my oldest brother)

I would have liked to seen them all,
The soldiers strong and brave,
From many counties they all came,
The way to freedom paved.

Many knew that they would die,
Their lives a sacrifice,
But for freedom they all stood,
Regardless of the price.

Among the brave and fighting troops,
My grandpa also fought,
Fighting for his children,
His scars my freedom bought.

Some live in unending pain,
Their memories never fade,
Some soldier's pain has ended,
As in the grave they're laid.

Another one who died for us,
Was Jesus Christ, God's son.
He willingly gave up his life,
A sinless blameless one.

Because of his forgiving love,
He's offered us new life.
A chance to live at peace with all,
A chance to end all strife.

We need to show respect to those,
Who paid a price so great,
They surely did not die in vain,
Let's remember them on this date.
