Present's Past

by Michael   Feb 26, 2006

Seal eyes
drift from reality
remember
the times of your life.

Do you recall
when you were a child,
that you perused your friends
whenever they rang on your doorbell,
drawing on sidewalks
with colors of blood red and indigo green?

Can you feel
the wind that passed you by,
when you chased the ice cream truck
to delight your taste
of licking chocolate
while devouring the cone?

Could you imagine
what the adventures you had,
in silent parks,
rocking on a swing,
swinging so far to touch the heavens?

Did you watch
a dog that left indigo paw prints,
a time where it was always, "Recess"
morning cartoons
that temporarily left you laughing?

Could you feel
water splashing on your face
giving a taste of air
gliding across to deeper journeys?

Did you always speak,
of careers yet to be,
dreams for gentle slumber,
of galloping unicorns
and racing across an endless speedway?

Did you listen
when Spice Girls dominated the world
the Backstreet Boys were larger than life
the melody still vibrating from N*Sync?

Do you remember,
that you had nothing but
fun
youth
innocence
freedom
read across your days
as if you really care?

Do you ever wish
past should be present
friends are to have fun
the sight of an opposite sex made you go in disgust
snowman should be created in winter
summer days were to be warm
back to where you were present's past?
